โครงการวิจัยการมีส่วนร่วมของชุมชนในการอนุรักษ์และสืบทอดเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทานและประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นและการสร้างพลังชุมชนของชาวอุบลราชธานี กรณีศึกษาอำเภอเมืองจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี เพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวทางวัฒนธรรม โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ดังต่อไปนี้ 1. เพื่อศึกษาการมีส่วนร่วมของชาวอุบลราชธานีในเขตอำภอเมือง ในการรวบรวม จัดเก็บเรื่องเล่า ตำนานนิทานและประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่น จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี 2. เพื่อศึกษาการศึกษาการสร้างพลังชุมชนผ่านเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทานและประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี และ 3. เพื่อจัดทำหนังสือแผนที่การท่องเที่ยวทางวัฒนธรรมที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทานและประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี

ผลวิจัยพบว่า การจัดการรวบรวมและจัดจำแนกประเภทเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน และ ประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่น พบว่า เรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน และประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่น จำนวน 69 เรื่อง แบ่งเป็นเรื่องเล่าที่ปรากฏในเขตอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดอุบลราชธานีจำนวน 22 เรื่อง ด้านประเด็นเรื่อง เล่า ตำนาน นิทาน ประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นกับการสร้างพลังชุมชน พบว่า มีประเด็นเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน ประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นกับการสร้างพลังชุมชนในมิติความเชื่อ ประเด็นเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน ประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นกับการสร้างพลังชุมชนในมิติทางสังคม ประเด็นเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน ประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นกับการสร้างพลังชุมชนในมิติประเพณีพิธีกรรม และประเด็นเรื่องเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน ประวัติศาสตร์ท้องถิ่นกับสำนึกทางสังคม
